The Masque
As the premier musical theatre troupe of Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic, the Masque presents two fully-staged productions each year. Singers, dancers, and actors are encouraged to participate as members of the cast, and those interested in production can work with sets, costumes, props, and microphones as a member of the crew. Over the years, the Masque has earned a reputation for being among the top high school theatre groups in the Pittsburgh region. Performances are held in the beautiful Central Catholic High School McGonigle Theater.

About The Show:
Set in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged " newsies." When the titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions and fight for what's right!
Based on the 1992 motion picture and inspired by the true events of the NYC Newsboy Strike of 1899, Newsies is an exuberant, joyful, and entertaining musical capturing the strength that young people have when they join together and stand up against injustice. Featuring the now classic songs, “Carrying the Banner,” “Seize the Day,” and “Santa Fe,” Newsies is packed with non-stop thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.
