Health and Wellness Initiative
Our commitment to keeping our students safe and substance-free.
About the Health and Wellness Initiative
Central Catholic High School is proud to be a leader in implementing the Diocese of Pittsburgh's new Health and Wellness Initiative. The Health and Wellness initiative will focus on keeping students well and substance-free through a combination of education, assessment and support.
Central Catholic, with the support of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, will implement a Wellness Initiative in the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year. All eight diocesan high schools are committed to protecting students’ health and well-being and preventing substance abuse. In the near future, the other diocesan high schools will be evaluating similar drug assessment policies and other programs focused on substance abuse prevention to enhance current programs at the schools.

About our Partner, Psychemedics
After looking into various options, Psychemedics was selected as the provider for Central Catholic. Psychemedics’ hair testing has undergone many scientific reviews, has numerous patents, and has never lost a court challenge. For example, comparison studies have shown that Psychmedics’ testing is up to 5-10 times more effective in identifying drug usage than urinalysis.
