Viking of the Week: Sebastian James, ’29
Sebastian James ’29 has quickly distinguished himself as a thoughtful and dependable student leader. His preparedness, enthusiasm, and genuine respect for both his classmates and the learning environment set him apart. Whether in discussion, group work, or independent study, Sebastian consistently brings focus and purpose to everything he does.
In the classroom, Sebastian’s sharp and inquisitive mind makes him a true asset. He energizes lessons and presentations with his thoughtful questions and keen observations, often helping classmates see an idea more clearly or from a new perspective. Teachers describe him as a gentle, unassuming intellectual—always humble, never seeking attention, yet deeply engaged. His curiosity and love of learning are evident not only in daily classwork, but also in his decision to take on an independent science project, which he entered in both the PJAS and PRSEF science competitions.
Sebastian’s intellectual curiosity extends well beyond a single discipline. He is involved in Rowing, Environmental Club, and Black Student Union, and he has explored Speech and Debate and recently begun attending Model UN meetings. He has also expressed interest in joining the Engineering program, continuing to seek out opportunities that challenge him and allow him to grow. No matter the activity, Sebastian approaches each with the same quiet determination and openness to learning.
What truly sets Sebastian apart, however, is his character. He carries himself with humility, maturity, and a sincere respect for others. He is kind, thoughtful, and deeply respectful of differing viewpoints, capable of discussing complex issues with both nuance and empathy. At the same time, he is firm in his convictions and able to advocate persuasively for causes he believes in—always with integrity and grace.
Sebastian James embodies what it means to be a Central Catholic student. Through his scholarship, leadership, curiosity, and compassion for others, he sets an example for those around him. We are proud to recognize him as a Viking of the Week and look forward to all he will continue to accomplish.
