Viking of the Week: Nate Tunno, ’27
Nate Tunno, ’27, may be a quiet presence on campus, but his actions speak volumes about his dedication to his studies, his teammates, and his friends. His teachers and coaches consistently praise him for being respectful, accountable, and proactive in all that he does.
Academic success is deeply important to Nate, and his teachers describe him as both dedicated and intelligent. While not the most outspoken student, Nate regularly pushes himself outside his comfort zone to share his thoughts and respectfully challenge classmates during discussions. His insights and connections enrich class conversations, and his willingness to participate—even when uncertain—sets a strong example for his peers. Nate’s careful attention to detail allows him to craft thoughtful written responses and offer meaningful perspectives that encourage others to think more deeply. His intellectual curiosity extends beyond the classroom as well; he challenges himself through both the Baginski Scholars Program and the Engineering Institute.
Faith is another cornerstone of Nate’s time at Central Catholic. An active member of Lasallian Ministry, Nate can often be found encouraging others to contribute to mission drives that support those in need. Each week, he makes time to attend Mass—either before school on Wednesdays or after school on Fridays—reflecting his commitment to exploring and deepening his faith.
Nate is also a key member of the Cross Country team, where his work ethic and sportsmanship shine. He trains diligently, consistently striving to improve his performance in every race. No matter how challenging a practice or race may be, Nate always has a smile on his face and sets an example for his peers by maintaining an optimistic outlook in the face of difficulty. One of his coaches describes him best: “Nate always goes the extra mile—he’ll run striders when we get back to school, and even stretch! He truly demonstrates how dedicated he is to his sport.”
Because of his determination in the classroom, his leadership on the Cross Country course, and his example of quiet excellence and faith, we are proud to recognize Nate Tunno, ’27, as this week’s Viking of the Week.
