Viking of the Week: Miles Wienand, ’26
While many of our students grow into Central Catholic’s core values of faith, scholarship, and service, a few arrive already rooted in them. Miles Wienand, ’26, is one of those students. He regularly altar serves at school Masses, tackles challenging coursework, and gives generously of his time to help others.
Miles’ faith has always been a steady part of his life. He often begins his mornings at Weekly Mass in the Brothers’ Chapel, taking time for prayer and reflection before the school day begins. His Religion teachers speak to both his strong foundation and his thoughtful participation in class, noting that he truly treats faith as something lived, not just learned.
Academically, Miles has never been one to shy away from a challenge. Throughout his four years, he has taken on demanding classes that require significant time and effort. His work in both the Engineering Institute and the Scholars Program highlight that drive. For his capstone project and thesis, he is developing an Arduino-based fuel injection system and exploring alternative fuel sources, respectively. He will present his fuel injection system at the EICC Expo in January and his thesis at the Scholars’ Symposium in the spring.
Teachers consistently describe Miles as “a pleasure in class,” “respectful,” and someone who is always willing to lend a hand. He brings genuine enthusiasm to his studies and often uses humor to make the classroom a more enjoyable space for both classmates and teachers.
Service is another area where Miles shines. As an active member of Lasallian Ministry, he jumps into opportunities to support the broader community. Most recently, he played a major role in organizing, counting, and delivering canned goods for the Little Sisters of the Poor. During homeroom, he could often be found going room to room, encouraging others to donate. He doesn’t just serve; he inspires others to do the same.
Miles also brings this same positive energy to athletics. As a dedicated member of the Crew team, he pushes himself physically and mentally, whether that means early morning practices or training in cold weather. He never complains; instead, he motivates his teammates and leads with quiet encouragement. His steady attitude and work ethic make him both a strong rower and a reliable teammate.
Through his steady commitment to service, his academic and athletic excellence, and the sincere way he lives out his faith, we are proud to recognize Miles Wienand, ’26, as this week’s Viking of the Week.
