Viking of the Week: John Thacik, ’28
John “Jack” Thacik ’28 is a student whose character speaks for itself. Quiet, thoughtful, and hardworking, Jack carries himself with a calm confidence that earns the respect of both his peers and his teachers. Whether in the classroom, through service, or in his commitment to his faith, he consistently strives to do the right thing.
At the core of Jack’s approach to life is a deep dedication to his faith. Teachers describe him as a student who truly tries to live out the values of kindness, respect, and honesty in his daily actions. As one teacher noted, “A good Catholic student strives to live according to the teachings of Jesus by showing kindness, respect, and honesty in everything they do. Jack Thacik does just that.” He works hard in his studies, uses his talents responsibly, and treats those around him with fairness and compassion.
Jack’s faith is not just something he talks about; it’s something he actively lives. Recently, he traveled to Montana with a group of students to serve on the Blackfeet Reservation Mission Trip, an experience that reflects his desire to help others and grow in his faith. Teachers also point to the way he continually looks for opportunities to serve and uplift those around him, embodying the spirit of brotherhood that is central to the community.
In the classroom, Jack is known for his intelligence, focus, and strong work ethic. He approaches his studies with dedication and consistency, always respectful and engaged. Though he may lead quietly, his actions set a powerful example for others. One teacher described him simply but effectively: “Quiet confidence, very intelligent, hard worker.”
Outside the classroom, Jack is also a dedicated member of the crew team, a commitment that reflects both his discipline and his love for competition and teamwork. Like many aspects of his life, he approaches athletics with the same steady determination and humility.
Above all, Jack is a young man who remains grounded in his values. Through his faith, service, academics, and relationships with others, he represents the kind of student Central Catholic strives to form: someone who grows not only academically, but spiritually and morally as well.
For his commitment to faith, scholarship, service, and quiet leadership, John “Jack” Thacik is a wonderful choice for Viking of the Week.
