Viking of the Week: Jackson Derda, ’27
Jackson Derda, ’27, embodies the spirit of a true Central Viking. He is a young man of integrity and service who is always willing to lend a hand. His positive disposition shines through in everything he does, and his friends and classmates often gravitate toward him during group discussions and in the hallways.
When he’s not focused on his studies, Jackson can be found serving as the Head Student Equipment Manager for the football team—a tremendous responsibility for any student. He works five, sometimes six, days a week to ensure the team has everything they need for practice and games. During practice, Jackson films from the sidelines so the team can review and refine their performance. On Fridays, he helps pack and load the equipment truck, making sure every detail is handled. Most weeks, he finishes his work around 11:30 p.m. on Friday night and is back at school by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday to assist with the JV game. Jackson takes his role as Head Student Equipment Manager with pride and professionalism.
Jackson also expresses his creativity through photography and yearbook. Often seen with a camera around his neck, he captures moments of campus life through unique angles and thoughtful perspectives. His photography can be found throughout the yearbook, serving as a testament to his artistic eye and commitment to showcasing the Central community.
In the classroom, Jackson is focused, dependable, and always willing to assist a classmate in need. His teachers commend his strong work ethic, creativity, and positive attitude. He consistently shares his gifts—his diligence, artistry, and kindness—with everyone around him, enriching the Central experience for his peers and teachers alike.
Because of his dedication, creativity, and unwavering service both in and out of the classroom, we are proud to recognize Jackson Derda ’27 as this week’s Viking of the Week.
