Viking of the Week: Garrett King, ’26
Garrett King ’26 has made the most of his time at Central Catholic, growing into a student who truly embodies what it means to be a man of faith, scholarship, and service. From his involvement across the school community to the way he supports those around him, Garrett’s impact is both wide-reaching and genuine.
At the heart of Garrett’s time at Central is his commitment to service. As a member of the Lasallian Ministry Executive Board, he plays an active role in organizing and supporting service initiatives, but what stands out most is that his care for others extends well beyond any formal role. Garrett is the kind of student who shows up—for his classmates, for school events, and for the broader community—because he genuinely wants others to succeed. His presence is felt across campus, whether he is supporting a team, helping with an event, or simply encouraging those around him.
Garrett has also taken full advantage of the many opportunities available at Central. His involvement spans a wide range of activities, including marching band—where he serves as drum major—pep band, robotics, FBLA, the Engineering Institute, VNN, and the Big Brother program, among others. He can often be found in the student section at games, at school Masses, or on retreat, fully engaged in the life of the school. He approaches each of these commitments with enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute.
In the classroom, Garrett is thoughtful and engaged. He asks meaningful questions, takes his academics seriously, and consistently looks for ways to deepen his understanding. As a leader in Bioengineering, he has guided his group with both dedication and confidence, setting a strong example for his classmates. His work in the Engineering Institute further reflects his perseverance. While designing modular ride vehicles for amusement parks, Garrett encountered challenges along the way, but he continued to refine his ideas and push forward until he reached a final product he could be proud of. The entire experience speaks to his resilience and growth.
Outside of academics, Garrett’s dedication is just as evident. Whether he is spending long hours fine-tuning a robotics project, traveling for FBLA conferences, or working behind the scenes in the sound booth to support school events, he consistently gives his time and energy to make Central a better place for everyone.
Perhaps what is most impressive about Garrett is his growth over the past four years. Entering as a quieter freshman, he has developed into a confident and humble leader; someone others look to for guidance, support, and example.
Garrett’s commitment to service, his involvement across the school community, and his steady leadership make him a truly deserving choice for Viking of the Week.
