Viking of the Week: Daniel Haller, ’26
From the moment he arrived as a freshman, Daniel Haller ’26 has stood out as someone who lifts up the people around him. He is the kind of student who is quick to befriend a classmate, step into a leadership role, or offer help where it is needed. Whether he is focusing on his coursework, sharpening his basketball skills, or finding ways to strengthen the school community, Danny brings intention and heart to everything he does.
Danny’s teachers consistently describe him as respectful, thoughtful, and deeply engaged. He contributes meaningfully to class discussions, often posing questions that push his peers to consider new angles or think more critically about the topic at hand. Even with a full slate of Honors and AP courses his senior year, he does not shy away from academic challenge; instead, he embraces it. When something does not click right away, he makes a point to stop by after class or during homeroom to ensure he fully understands. That commitment to growth has served him well over the last four years.
His leadership extends far beyond the classroom. As Student Council President, Danny has worked hard to build community and bring energy to the school day—most recently organizing a pep rally in support of the football team’s run to the WPIAL championship. In the Big Brothers program, he checks in weekly with his freshmen “little brothers,” helping them navigate the transition to high school and offering guidance whenever they need it. His dedication to basketball since freshman year reflects the same steady work ethic and enthusiasm that define him everywhere else.
Service is also at the core of who Danny is. He regularly reads and altar serves at school masses and stepped up as a student leader on the fall Kairos retreat. During the past two summers, he traveled to Jamaica with Move a Mountain Mission, spending a week each year working alongside and supporting underserved communities, experiences that have deepened his faith and broadened his perspective.
Danny is admired for his kindness, his leadership, and the genuine care he shows for others. Whether he’s on the court or cheering in The Fleet Student Section, he brings people together and sets an example of what it means to live out Central’s values. For all these reasons, we are pleased to recognize Daniel Haller ’26 as this week’s Viking of the Week.
