Viking of the Week: Bruce Goodman, ’26
Bruce Goodman ’26 has made the most of his senior year, standing out as a student who brings curiosity, energy, and purpose to everything he does. In the classroom, on the track, and within the school community, Bruce consistently shows what it means to be fully engaged and committed.
Bruce has always challenged himself academically. In class discussions, Bruce is quick to think on his feet and eager to contribute, but there is also a depth to his thinking that draws others in. His ideas are not only insightful but meaningful, reflecting a student who is both intellectually curious and willing to engage deeply with the world around him. This year, in Anatomy and Physiology, he has truly found his stride. His passion for science has grown throughout high school, leading him to further challenge himself by taking Organic Chemistry as well. Teachers describe him as thoughtful, thorough, and hardworking—often the first to analyze a case study and develop a well-reasoned diagnosis and solution. At the same time, Bruce brings a sense of humor that keeps the classroom lively. One memorable project in Anatomy and Physiology had him creating a “yearbook page” for the adrenal glands, noting they were “most likely to stay reactive” and would listen to Eye of the Tiger—a small moment that captured both his creativity and his ability to make learning enjoyable for those around him.
Bruce’s engagement extends beyond discussion and written work. Whether practicing intubation, taking blood pressure, or performing CPR, he approaches hands-on opportunities with focus and enthusiasm. He is eager to learn, willing to try, and always looking to deepen his understanding.
Outside the classroom, Bruce is a dedicated member of the track and cross-country programs, where he has competed as a distance runner for four years. His commitment to early mornings, long runs, and challenging workouts speaks to his discipline and perseverance. Teammates and coaches recognize him as someone who leads by example—encouraging others, pushing through adversity, and always striving to improve. As one coach noted, his willingness to embrace the demands of distance running “speaks volumes about his character and determination.”
Bruce’s leadership is also grounded in his faith and character. He participated in the Kairos retreat, where he showed himself to be a thoughtful listener and a supportive presence for his peers. He carries himself with kindness, humility, and a genuine respect for others, whether in conversation, competition, or collaboration.
Bruce Goodman is a true scholar-athlete—driven, thoughtful, and grounded in his values. Whether he’s in the classroom, on the track, or supporting his peers, he approaches each day with purpose and integrity. For all of these reasons, Bruce is more than deserving of recognition as this week’s Viking of the Week.
