Starting the School Year With Service

This week marked Central Catholic’s first service trip of the school year to The Red Door, a Catholic outreach ministry in Pittsburgh that provides meals, hospitality, and support to those in need.

A select group of seniors involved in the Lasallian Mission and Ministry program, accompanied by Mr. Urso and Mr. Donahue, traveled to the Red Door to serve more than 220 meals to members of the Pittsburgh community. Throughout the day, students prepared lunch bags, cooked food, made sandwiches, served drinks, and even distributed clothing items.

The experience provided our students with an opportunity to put the Lasallian mission into action by serving others with compassion.

As the school year progresses, every freshman will have the opportunity to participate in a service experience at the Red Door Ministry,  along with senior members of our mentoring program, My Brother’s Keeper. Through this initiative, our students will continue to grow as servant leaders while strengthening their commitment to serving their neighbors and community.
