A picturesque view of Central Catholic High School against a vibrant sunset sky

The beginning of central catholic

After being elevated to the episcopacy, Bishop Hugh C. Boyle launched a secondary school expansion initiative within the Diocese of Pittsburgh. In 1923, he led a fundraising campaign to establish centralized, well-equipped Catholic high schools. Its first success was the construction of Central District Catholic High School and Faculty House in Oakland.

Brothers' House

For nearly 100 years, the Brothers' Residence has been a staple of Central Catholic High School. The De La Salle Brothers of the Christian Schools have lived in the building since the school's earliest days. Today, it houses a chapel, the President's office, and both the Department of Finance and the Admissions

THEATER

The McGonigle Theater is the primary performing arts venue for Central Catholic High School in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. It serves as the home for the school's award-winning drama troupe, The Masque, which produces two fully staged musicals or plays each year, and musical performances by the Blue Knights Jazz Band, Concert Band, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers.

It is also the only venue on our campus for the monthly all-school Mass.
