About The Band
- The Central Catholic Marching Band is a co-ed group comprised of talented students from Central Catholic and Oakland Catholic High Schools;
- The Band performs at all Varsity football games, as well as major Pittsburgh parades and local band festivals;
- Every two years, the Band marches at Walt Disney World in Florida; the next trip is scheduled for Spring of 2013;
- Marching Band can be taken as a course for credit, or as an extracurricular activity;
- The Band prepares for the season with two weeks of band camp in the late summer; and then once a week evening rehearsals once school has begun;
- The Marching Band has been a Central Catholic tradition since 1937!
Did You Know?
- CCHS Band students also participate in a number of varsity sports, including crew, football, soccer, lacrosse, swimming, rugby, volleyball, ice hockey and cross country;
- Band members are active in many other school clubs and activities, including Forensics, PJAS, Robotics Team, Student Council, Chess club, MAPs, Newspaper staff, WCCN (the CCHS News Network), Lasallian Youth, National Honor Society, My Brother’s Keeper, Yearbook staff, Ultimate Frisbee, ping pong, paintball, OC Campus Ministry team and OC Student Ambassadors;
- The students are also involved in several intramural activities at their schools, including football, basketball and swimming;
- Marching Band members are represented in many other school sponsored Performance Arts programs, including Masque, Jazz Band and Concert Band;
- More than 75% of Marching Band students are taking at least one Honors or AP class;
- The Marching Band has several students that are also members of the Baginski or Joan of Arc Scholars programs.
