Central Catholic Swimming has built a strong tradition and legacy in recent years. Since 2001 the Viking Swim Team has won 2 W.P.I.A.L. class AAA team championships, and several section championships. The Viking Swim Team has also produced several individual W.P.I.A.L. and P.I.A.A. champions, many of which were NCAA recruited swimmers.
The Central Catholic Swim Team competes and practices jointly with the Oakland Catholic Swim Team. Practices and home meets are conducted at the brand new Chatham College Athletic and Fitness Center in Oakland. Viking swimming offers a unique opportunity for experienced swimmers to compete for one of the most widely recognized programs in the W.P.I.A.L., and less experienced swimmers the opportunity to learn and to develop into a whole new level of competitive swimming. USA Swimming members are permitted to practice with their clubs, provided they attend mandatory team practices.
