On Sunday, September 11th students and faculty from Central Catholic participated in the Travis Manion Memorial 5K Run to honor the Fallen Heroes of 9/11. This memorial run was part of a national commemoration with racing sites all over the country. 1st Lt. Travis Manion was a graduate of another Lasallian school in the Philadelphia area and was killed in combat in Afghanistan. Marine Captain Aloysius Boyle, Central Catholic class of 2000, a friend of Travis, helped organize the Pittsburgh run. Particular recognition to the members of the Central Catholic Rowing team who ran in memory of the brother of Sophomore John Gilkey who was killed while serving in Afghanistan.
