Imagine a cold, clear October afternoon: leaves crackling underfoot; all eyes focused anxiously on a small patch of woods. Suddenly! first one, then a flock of gold shirts emerge from the trees and race towards the finish as Central Cross-Country adds yet another victory to a long and glorious tradition of championship teams and individual greats. This tradition spans over 50 years and has had numerous appearances at the P.I.A.A. State Finals.
The Cross-Country season begins in August and finishes in November at the state competition. Cross-Country runners race over a 5000 meter course to determine the fastest and strongest. There are often separate races for Varsity, Junior Varsity, and freshmen. Everyone, no matter how young, has a chance for success. Cross-Country is a sport for everyone with determination and desire to compete. We invite you to join one of Central’s fine sports’ traditions.
