Central Catholic sponsors 16 varsity sports and competes in the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL) and the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA), or in sport-specific leagues. The various Viking teams have enjoyed great success over the past 75 years and annually produce teams that rank high in our area and state-wide. Central Catholic provides its young student-athletes with the very best in competitive opportunities playing against challenging Quad- and Triple-A teams from western Pennsylvania. One of the many reasons for Central’s success has been the ability to involve many students in the athletic program by offering competition at different levels of competition: freshman, junior varsity, and varsity. The intramural program adds to the competition by allowing interested students to sharpen their skills. It is easy to establish that Central Catholic provides one of the finest high school athletic programs available anywhere.
